How Do I Buy From A Local Farm?

We are asked this often from folks that want to start buying meat from a local farm instead of the grocery store. We are happy to help you get our meats and welcome new customers with all of your questions. We do not have the staffing or availability of a grocery store that is open 10 hours a day, seven days a week, and we don’t always have the inventory on hand for an immediate purchase, but we try to accommodate customers and make the process as easy as we can while working with our schedules of farming full time. I will describe how you can purchase from us.

First, it is best to call or email us before coming by. We welcome folks to the farm, but we are not always at our home farm. We have several properties we manage, and then errands, runs to the butcher, taking care of kids, etc. take us in all directions. If you would like a tour to see our animals, please schedule that with us.

We have our regeneratively grazed grassfed beef year round, but our grassfed lamb and pastured and woodland pork are seasonal for us. I will describe buying beef, please ask when lamb or pork is available if you are interested.

We sell individual cuts as well as bulk beef bundles. We can sell you one pound of ground beef or the whole steer butchered to your specifications, or anything in between. Our inventory fluctuates, so call or email your list of what you want, and we will check availability and pull your order.

If you want a bulk order, call if you have any questions, but the best way to place the order is through email. We will let you know when we can have the order for you. A Family Pack or a quarter steer could be available immediately or there may be a short waiting list. A half or a whole steer can be customized, meaning you may choose steak thickness, roast size, types of cuts. (for example the rib can be bone-in rib steaks, boneless rib-eyes, rib roasts, or grind it and add it to the ground beef) We can help you fill out the cutsheet, offering recommendations if you need. It will take at least three weeks to get a customized half or whole steer.

We have standing appointments at the USDA inspected abattoir that we use, and are taking steers about every month. When your animal goes, it takes about three weeks for the beef to be dry aged, butchered, vacuum packed, labeled and frozen. We will then pick the beef up from the butcher and bring it back to our farm for you to get. At our farm, our freezers are in our garage, so come a half mile down the driveway, turn right when you come to horse fields, and head to the two story farm house. 3230 Ellisville Dr. If you live closer to the butcher than our farm, you may pick up from them in Bealeton, Virginia. We will ask for a deposit for a half or whole steer and the balance can be paid at pick up. We take cash, check credit cards and have invoices that can be paid online.
