First Snow Day of 2022

Monday's snow was absolutely beautiful, yet it did create some extra work for us on the farm. We have 3 herds on 3 different farms, which required our chainsaw and 4WD tractor to get to all of them. We probably cut up 15 trees to open roads and driveways. We lost power in the morning and it’s not back on yet. That means electric fences aren’t hot and the well isn’t pumping fresh water to the livestock. We are making plans to haul water or let the animals have temporary access to a creek.

On the kid front, while we were hard at work, they built a snow fort and stockpiled snowball ammunition all day for an eminent snowball fight. It was quite a day, but we look forward to a good old fashioned family snowball fight today.
